Vermont Trip

We just got back from our trip to Vermont. We all had a great time! While travelling with an infant is not exactly what I would call relaxing, it was really fun and Mary Francis was so good.

We left Friday morning for the 4 hour drive. Mary Francis was ready to hit the road...
We drove through New Hampshire and passed through beautiful Franconia Notch..
And drove by one of the places to we like to ski, Cannon Mountain. No snow this time of year!
We arrived after an easy drive (MFG slept most of the way) to the lovely Lake Salem Inn in Derby, Vermont
The inn was right on the lake and was very quaint
Mary Francis trying out the bed in our room
We stayed in the "Library Room"
Tommy entertained Mary Francis with his iPhone - she loves it!
That night, we went into Newport, where the swim would be the next day on Lake Memphremagog
Lake Memphremagog, which crosses the US/Canadian border
Tommy testing the water temperature - it was perfect!
There was a parade for the swimmers and their dogs :) Mary Francis loved it!
She also got to pose with the "lake monster"
The next morning, Mary Francis and I dropped Tommy off at the lake early in the morning to meet with his kayaker before the race. We went back to the B&B so that Mary Francis could nap while Tommy swam. We were there at the finish line though!

Running out of the water to the finish after swimming 10 miles - amazing!
Crossing the finish line at 5 hours and 2 minutes
There was an 11-year-old girl from Mumbai, India who did the 10 mile race. She was such a sweet girl and Mary Francis loved her because she let her try on her "medal"
Chilling with Daddy on the back porch of the inn after the race. We are so proud of him!
This morning, on our way out of town, we headed north. Our bed and breakfast was only 5 miles south of the Canadian border, so of course, we had to see it. We couldn't cross over, because Mary Francis doesn't have a passport, but we did take a picture.

We made a pit stop at Flume Gorge in New Hampshire on the way home. We were going to go hiking, but it started raining just as we got there.
We did stop at the Tilt'n Diner in Tilton, NH. We love this place - it is a must on the way home from ski trips in the winter.
Mary Francis enjoyed her first trip to the Tilt'n Diner and really liked her hat and the menu
Now we are home, tired and happy from our fun weekend!
