Labor Day Weekend in Stowe

We spent Labor Day weekend in Stowe, VT with our friends the Jones Family. We had a great time, as usual!

We arrived Friday afternoon and the girls were excited to get there

The next morning, we drove through Smugglers Notch to hike along Brewster River Gorge.

It was a wet hike! We had to cross the river

On the trail

Our destination - a pretty waterfall and swimming hole

The water was crystal clear and COLD!

Anderson loved splashing in the shallow parts of the river

And sitting on the rocks

Our friend Andy climbed up the waterfall and jumped into the swimming hole!

Francie and Tommy checking out the swimming hole

The water was chilly but refreshing

When we got back, MFG went swimming with the Jones.....

While Tommy, Anderson and I headed over to the gondola so that Tommy could do the biplane

Riding the gondola

At the top of Mt. Mansfield
 Gorgeous view!

Tommy getting ready to go - look how high this is! It looked terrifying!

Anderson and I rode the gondola back down and met Tommy at the bottom

Beautiful view at the base of the mountain

Snacks at the lodge

The next day, we rented bikes and did a great ride along the bike path in to town and back  - about 11 miles round trip.

There was a stable next to the bike rental place, so MFG and Toby checked out the horses

Ready to go for a ride!

MFG rode a tandem attachment behind Tommy and I pulled Anderson in the trailer

The 3 amigos

Another gorgeous view

Once we got into town, we stopped for lunch and ice cream

On the way back, we stopped so that the older kids could cool off in the river. Anderson loved stretching her legs walking around.

Ready to go!

The grown ups went out to a lovely dinner that night while the kids had a babysitter. The next morning, we left fairly early and had an easy drive home. We stopped for lunch at a pretty golf course in New Hampshire

It was a great weekend!
