Channel Training

This post won't even begin to do justice to the amount of training Tommy has put in to prepare for his English Channel swim.....but I will at least post a few photos. If you would like to read a much more detailed account, read the blog in the link at the bottom of this post authored by Andy Jones, Tommy's training partner and our very good friend. We will be staying in England for 3 weeks with the Jones family for Tommy and Andy's swims between July 25th and August 16th.

Tommy and Andy were featured in the summer issue of 01907 magazine and a photographer met them at Eisman's beach early one morning for a photo shoot

Gorgeous morning, but that water is COLD!

 Another Saturday, another swim

Cold on the beach - note Anderson's ski hat!

Off they go!

After a swim - I am hot in a bathing suit on the beach and Tommy is shivering in his dry suit. It takes awhile to warm up when the water is in the low 50s!

Tommy scheduled a 10 hour swim for July 8th as a final LONG swim (though certainly not the last swim) in his training. I kayaked beside him for the duration of the swim to watch out for boat traffic and provide his feeds.

Early morning over Marblehead Harbor

Tommy was joined my many friends throughout the day who would keep him company for different legs of the swim. Most folks stayed in for 1-2 hours.

Having a feed

A friend of a friend took this photo of us from shore. Many people in town were cheering him on from the beach!

We had to pull out at 7.5 hours due to a huge thunderstorm, but it was a successful training swim. 10 days until we leave for the UK!
