Tommy has been wanting a new surfboard and wetsuit for awhile, so I decided to get him a board for his birthday (which was Friday). He wanted a longer board that would be good for the waves here and a much thicker wetsuit so that he can surf all winter, which is when the waves are the best in New England. We drove to Hamptom, NH today to a great surf shop called Cinnamon Rainbows.
Mary Francis was a big help in picking out a board. You know he'll have her out there catching waves by the time she's 3!
This is the kind of wetsuit you need to surf New England in the winter!
Tommy decided to go with a SUP - stand up paddle board. These boards are great, because you can paddle the board in flat water (ocean with no waves, lakes, rivers, etc) or you can ride it like a long board and surf. Here are a couple of shots I found online that show a SUP in action:
